PHASE OUT CALAs : SCHOOLS ORDERED newsdzeZimbabweNewsdzeZimbabwe

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education urged schools at the country level to adopt the new policy of new school projects and steal the gradual disposal of the use of continuous evaluation learning activities (CALAS) completely.

The call comes amid reports that some schools took a long time to move from Calas to the new policy, which puts a lot of pressure on both learners and parents before the September exams to November.

In an interview with Sunday News last week, the Director of Communications and Call in the Ministry stressed Mr. TAUNGANA NDORO of the importance of informing parents significantly about the new policy that entered into force at the beginning of the year. Mr. Nadoro explained that the approved policy aims to simplify the evaluation process and reduce the burden on both learners and teachers.

“School projects aim to be more practical, related and in line with the competencies that we want to develop. They provide a complete approach to evaluation, allowing students to apply their knowledge in the real world contexts.”

He also explained that the implementation of this transition will take place in stages to facilitate the smooth amendment.

For exams this year, schools will be asked to integrate new school projects as part of their evaluation criteria.

However, for the June exams, Calas will be used for the last time before gradually eliminating the gradual disposal.

This is a transitional period designed to allow schools to adapt to the new system. “We realize that change can be a challenge, but we are confident that this shift will achieve long -term benefits for our educational system,” said Mr. Nadoro. Sunday news
