THREE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS KILLED IN KOMBI CRASH newsdzeZimbabweNewsdzeZimbabwe

Three high school students died while on their way to get their O-level results when the kombi they were traveling in capsized.

One student is believed to have achieved 10 marks. Authorities at St Mount Mary’s Secondary School in Hoidza confirmed the tragedy. The injured were transported to Mount St. Mary’s Hospital.

In a statement, the school’s School Development Committee Chairman, Mr Nyasha, said:

“Today, we are deeply saddened to share some very sad news with fellow parents at Mount St. Mary’s High School.

“Yesterday in the afternoon around 2pm, 3 of our former Grade 4 students died as a result of a traffic accident at Chisima Shops just before Makondwa School, about 15km before they arrived at school.

“The kombi overturned, seriously injuring them. They all died in hospital. There were a total of about 16 students, including one parent.

“Notice that all of them are badly injured except for one student.

“Our thoughts are with the families and friends of our three boys who were unable to attend. This is an extremely difficult time for everyone in our school community and for us as parents.

“This is a huge loss. We, as parents’ representatives (I, Mr. Nyasha – President, Mr. Chingoma – Vice President and Mr. Mugariri – Treasurer) who were present at the school before this happened, witnessed our children being hospitalized. H Metro
