Members of the Zanu PF Women’s Association in Chiromhanzo Ward 10 recently mobilized community members to sack the principal of Chingwena Secondary School over allegations of misconduct including assaulting learners and insulting parents.

Although the school head refuted the allegations, sources who spoke to TellZim News said that sometime in November, a group of Zanu PF women went to Tsingwena to protest against the school head drumming and singing, a cultural demonstration Used to inform someone that he or she is no longer welcome in the area.

But school principal Tonya Moshae said he was still at school and said the Zanu PF Women’s League could not fire him because they were not his employers. He asked the reporter to refer questions related to the incident to the three police officers who came to his rescue.

“I was not fired from work by the women’s league, they are not my employers. These are just slanders. Leave this issue completely. About the protest you can ask three police officers from the Hama police station who were accompanying the women who were singing and banging,” a mourner said. Drums.”

Zanu PF Women’s League Zonal President Gladys Chivege confirmed the incident and said the association was seeking to assist parents in their wards as they had received numerous reports of the president’s unruly behavior towards learners and parents.

“We received many complaints from parents who were dissatisfied with Masha’i’s behaviour. The School Development Committee (SDC) remained silent on the issue, but parents continued to voice their concerns. We decided to help them because our role allows us to help those in need especially Individuals under the age of 18.”

She said the association chose to act on the matter after considering that the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (MoPSE) might take a long time to act as it follows winding procedures.

“As a women’s union, we believed that the district education offices would follow the appropriate procedures to remove Mashai and we felt that this would take a long time. Our wish is that he leaves school, we do not want to interfere with his job but we no longer need him in our community,” Chevig said.

Chevig said Mashai’s behavior was unacceptable and had a negative impact on individuals.

“We have heard that Mushai sometimes gets into fights with learners using stones and abuses parents. Some learners and parents no longer feel welcome at the school because of his actions. He is also causing problems as he is said to have a habit of making inappropriate advances towards school children.

“Mashaie does not deserve to be called a teacher, especially if he continues his inappropriate behavior. Recently, the committee wanted to meet him, but he refused, prompting community members to protest against him.

“He told his parents they were wasting his time because they couldn’t chase him. Even though the parents didn’t officially expel him, they didn’t want him in school anymore,” Chevig said.

Deputy Chairman of Chiromhanzo Rural District Council, Cyprian Chiota, also confirmed the president’s ongoing pattern of abuse towards parents and learners.

“Mashai has engaged in a pattern of abuse and disrespect towards both parents and learners. His recent actions have culminated in a lawsuit in the Mvuma Magistrate’s Court which has led to the arrest of several parents and members of the Social Development Committee as well as the counsellor. This situation raises concerns about his motives.

“On International Women’s Day, he expelled ladies from the Ladies’ Association who visited his office, sparking a dramatic scene that was met with ridicule from the educated,” he said.

He said the president insulted him and he had previous problems with learners and staff.

“Recently, Mashai insulted me during a phone call we had after the parents ordered him to leave the school. He also quarreled with three learners from his school and the matter ended up in Mvuma court.

“He is not in good books with his deputy who opposes him dating a learner. “I have reported this issue to the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare but nothing has been done and he seems to be continuing his inappropriate behaviour,” Chiota said.

The Chengwena SDC president identified only as Chinyama confirmed the incident and stated that Mashai insulted the parents.

“Mashaye is in the habit of insulting parents and learners. He even went as far as following parents where they would work to demand school fees,” Chinyama said.
