Club president Madiangov at Chevy recently smashed a beer bottle in the face of a bar patron during a bar fight, shortly after defeating him at a game of pool.
The victim, Frederick Mudhi, was left suffering from severe facial injuries after Chief Jameson Manyombo attacked him with a beer bottle in a fight at a local shopping centre.
The two were playing snooker in a pub before they got involved in a fight involving some money on November 21 at around 8pm.
Mudhe confirmed the incident and told TellZim News that during one of the games, the leader took out a US$100 bill intending to buy beer and asked Mudhe to give him a small amount, which he did.
“We were playing pool with the chief and I beat him a few times. Then he asked for a smaller note because he had a US$100 note that he wanted to use to buy beer. He gave me the note and I gave him US$20 which he used to buy beer,” Moodhi said.
Mudhi went on to say after the match, that he went to buy beer that he wanted to take to the funeral, using the US$100 that the traditional leader had given him earlier. He said that when the store owner was about to give him the change, the store boss came and took it, saying it was his, even though Mudhi had not yet used the US$20. Then they got into an argument that led to him being assaulted.
“I went to buy a six-pack of beer for US$6, and when the shopkeeper was about to give me some money, the shop boss snatched the money. I asked him to give me my money but he said he didn’t owe me anything. Then I asked the shopkeeper to give me my money back because I was the one who gave her the money thinking she would get it from the store boss but I failed.
“I returned the beer and said I wanted my money with the intention of taking the $20 and giving the rest to the chief.
“Then I went out and he followed me before he asked for forgiveness and we said that everything was fine, but when I was making a phone call, I heard him accusing me of being stupid and I thought maybe he was bragging. After a while he suddenly smashed a bottle of beer on the left side of my face and I fell on my head,” Mudhi said. “I had to crawl and hide under one of the vehicles while people were fleeing the scene, thinking I would die.”
He went on to say that the people who were there managed to refrain from the traditional leader while taking the victim to the nearest clinic and had to send a relative of Chibi Growth Point to a pharmacy to get the necessary medicines to treat him because there was none in the pharmacy. Clinic.
When contacted for comment, Manyombo confirmed the incident and said he injured Mudhi in self-defense after he attacked him with a beer bottle first but he managed to dodge it.
“I can confirm the incident but it was an act of self-defense because it was Mudhe who attacked me first after a dispute over US$100.
“We had just finished playing a game of pool when I decided to buy beers for both of us. I went to the counter and took out a $100 bill, and just as I was about to hand it to the cashier, Moodhi snatched it and both of us. The hands were inside the barricade burglary bars. He said the money It’s his, and he won it when we were playing snooker.
“I had to hug him tight before he left the money. I asked the cashier to give me the beer and I would pay her later which I did. That’s when Mudhi tried to hit me with a beer bottle, which I dodged. Then I retaliated and he was injured. It was a defense thing,” Manyombo said. Completely self-defeating and I had to flee and report the matter to the Machava police because he and his friends in the business center were attacking me.”
He denied Mudhe’s account, saying he never asked him for money and said the beer he used to attack him was his first. Telezem News
