Popular Chillspot producer Tafadzwa Mandaza, popularly known as DJ Ribhe, appeared in court yesterday accused of raping a 14-year-old girl after giving her intoxicants.
Mandaza (32), who is represented by lawyer Mr Dumisani Mthombeni, was not asked to plead and was advised to apply for bail in the High Court.
Harare Regional Magistrate, Ms Marihwanazvu Jova, ordered him detained until 20 November.
The state alleged that on October 16, around 4 p.m., the second-grader did not return home from school after her father was told she had run away for two days in a row.
The court heard that at about 10pm the next day she went to Mandaza’s house in the company of some people. The group then headed to the village of Mashwedi.
In Mashwedi village, Mandaza allegedly manipulated the girl into drinking an unknown substance and smoking shisha. At around 3am on October 18, the two went to Mandaza’s house where the girl regained consciousness the next day.
When the schoolgirl woke up, she realized that Mandaza was having sex with her without her consent.
The next day, at around 9am, the schoolgirl was located in Highveld, Harare after a missing person report was filed at ZRP Glen Norah.
The rape allegations came to light on October 20 when the schoolgirl was interviewed by her father after locating her. Herald
