Police officers have been banned, with immediate effect, from using their mobile phones while on duty.
This comes as the Minister of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage, Kazembe Kazembe, expressed concern about the behavior of some police officers, while the Commissioner-General of Police, Godwin Matanga, pledged to deal firmly with the errant officers, who were arrested. A police memorandum dated 31 October 2024 addressed to all stations in Masvingo Central District entitled “Use of Mobile Phones While on Duty”, and signed by ZRP Operations Supervisor Masvingo Central District, contains the new policy.
