A 23-year-old young man kidnapped a three-year-old girl with the intention of raping her for ritual purposes.
Tawanda Marunzi appeared before the Western Region Magistrate’s Court and faced charges of kidnapping. He was sentenced to four years in prison.
On October 26, 2024, Marunzi abducted a 3-year-old girl and took her to a densely wooded area 5 kilometers from her home.
He was intercepted by the complainant’s aunt, who was driving her car on Solusi Road with her friends. The complainant’s aunt saw Marunzi carrying the complainant and confronted him.
Marunzi told the court that he wanted to rape the complainant for financial ritual purposes “in accordance with the instructions given to him by his traditional healer”.
