Six Apostolic sect leaders have invaded a farm designated for research in Harare. They have since been arrested and taken to court.
H Metro reports that Gebert Kunaka, Milton Murinda, Samuel Manwere, Tendai Antonio, Godwill Tailo and Kudzai Chibedza were not asked to plead when they appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi.
The complainant is the Kutsaga Research Council, represented by Farai Nyahasha, who is the company’s security officer.
All six are members of the Johan Masui Ishishano, which holds church services at various shrines on the Kotsaga Research Farm.
The court heard that various groups of Maswe Apostolic churches invaded the farm with the aim of establishing church shrines. In June, Nyahasha asked various groups to vacate the building.
The six, the leaders, resisted the notice and continued to offer their services on the farm. Nyahasha was asked to file a police report. The six were arrested on Friday.
They are expected to return to court today.
