Two self-proclaimed prophets have been arrested over a home-based snake scam targeting business owners.
The Herald reports that the duo, Takudzwa Mwabita (29) from Granary and Whitehouse and Shaun Chikumba (22) from Budiriro 5A and another accomplice, who are still at large, will obtain as much information about their intended victims before approaching them. They are members of the Apostolic sect of Johannes Massoy, based in Glen Norah A.
In some cases, they obtained information from maids with whom they colluded to withdraw money. They were arrested early yesterday morning after attempting to scam more than $6,000 in cash or 20 monsters from a Glen View-based businessman.
The two and their accomplice colluded with the businessman’s housemaid, who has since been arrested. She has been identified as Benhilda Nivedzanai, 19 years old.
Harare Provincial Police spokesperson, Inspector Lukemore Chakanza, confirmed the arrests and said they were still searching for the third suspect.
