A Mozambican truck driver who had a habit of stealing shipments he was supposed to deliver ran out of luck last month when he was cornered by investigators and caught red-handed while unloading his load of fertilizer in Rusape.
Manhoki Aurelio (44), from Matola village in Maputo, who works for ITONA Logistics, learned the hard way that crime does not pay after Rosape judge Ms Barbara Mateko sentenced him to two years in prison.
Ms Matiko did not rule out any part of the punishment. Aurelio, who was not represented, did not waste the court’s time and confessed to the crime.
His three other accomplices, suspected to be agricultural input traders, fled the scene and disappeared into the darkness.
