A member of the Zanu-PF politburo and a supporter of the liberation struggle, Colonel (retd) Chenga Dube, has died.
Colonel (Retd) Dube, a decorated war veteran, former Cabinet Minister and a revered figure in the country’s liberation history, passed away yesterday at the age of 83, after a long battle with illness. His son, Mr Phosa Dube, confirmed his father’s death last night, saying it had come as a shock.
“I can confirm that my father, Colonel (retd) Chenga Dube, died today at 7.34pm at Mater Dei Hospital in Bulawayo after kidney failure. “Of course he had been ill for the past 10 years, but his death came as a shock to us as a family,” he added.
“As a family, we are saddened by his passing and have lost our pillar of strength.”
