The government says the opposition is in disarray due to President Mnangagwa’s economic strategies.
“As September comes to a close, it is important to reflect on the life cycle of the Second Republic,” said Minister of Information Dr. Genevan Mossoire. It has been a year since President Mnangagwa was overwhelmingly elected to his position as Head of State and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defense Forces. This was against the odds of the reactionary machinations held by imperialism.
He added: “The features of his policy pushed the opposition into early political retirement. The collapse of the opposition due to internal contradictions, lack of political appeal, and President Mnangagwa’s game-changing economic strategies have changed Zimbabwe’s political terrain. The collapse of the colonial-backed opposition strengthens much-needed support for the immediate and unconditional lifting of sanctions against Zimbabwe.
“With the waning of rabble-rousing factional opposition, the nationalist movement is now in a better position than ever. A year after his re-election, the opposition is still buried in defeat, with no hope of revival in the near future. President Mnangagwa will be remembered in history for this political feat.
