
A Shurugwi man has been jailed for killing two girlfriends for their cars and money. The Supreme Court sentenced Emmanuel Mahimbe to life imprisonment for murder.
Mahimbe disposed of the bodies, burying one in a riverbed and throwing the other in an abandoned mine. He pleaded not guilty to murder but was found guilty after a full trial of murder with actual intent.
The court heard that sometime between August 2021 and September 2022, Mahimbi met Patricia Mutero and proposed to her. Motiro and Mahimbi became romantically involved. Mahimbi was in a relationship for financial gain.
In September 2022, the two were at the Dhanga Business Centre, and Shorugwe and Mahimbi drove Motiro’s car, a Honda fitted to the Dhanga Dip Tank where he killed her, wrapped the body in a blanket and buried it along the Gwamvura River bed before driving off in her car. .
He later sold the car. In 2021, Mahimbi met Idah Chigumpet and fell in love with her.
The two became romantically involved and on May 22, 2021, the two drove to Chigombati’s sister’s house in Shorugwe. Along the way, there were misunderstandings between the two about money. The argument escalated and Mahimbe killed Chigombete and dumped the body in an abandoned mine at Motivkwe Bridge.
