Zanu PF Resource Mobilization and Revenue Generation Committee Chairman Dexter Nduna is pressing Harare and Bulawayo councils to terminate contracts with parking companies to pave the way for his company to take over operations.
Nduna earlier this year announced the creation of a company called the Separation Team, claiming it would be solely responsible for Harare’s parking lots as a source of revenue for the ruling Zanu PF party.
Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume, also a lawyer, ridiculed Nduna’s directives, saying they lacked legal basis.
“We get a lot of messages from people after they go to night school and learn a few extra words,” Mafume joked.
“I will discuss this issue with the city clerk,” Bulawayo Mayor David Coltart said.
