The body of an unidentified man, believed to be in his mid-30s, was found dead on February 28 this year in a wooded area in the suburb of Northgate Heights, after spending five months in the morgue of Gweru Regional Hospital.

Midlands Police spokesman Emmanuel Mahuku said they were urging families with missing male relatives to come to the hospital and identify the body.

“The police are appealing to anyone who has a missing relative to contact the Gweru Central Police Officer, Chief Inspector Joel Goku, or proceed to the police station to identify the body kept at the Gweru Regional Hospital morgue for a dignified burial,” he said.

Mahoko said the man was wearing black jeans and a red T-shirt. An empty bottle of toxic pesticide was found next to his body.

The body was found around 3pm by a seven-year-old girl who was playing in the bushes.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police are concerned about the deaths of people without identification details. The call comes after the body of a man has not been identified for over three months,” he said. Masvingo Mirror
