Sean “Diddy” Combs has been slammed by the legal team of his ex-girlfriend Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura over his apology for hitting the singer.
The 54-year-old rapper-turned-business mogul said he was “really sorry” for the incident, two days after CNN published a video showing him launching a brutal attack on Cassie, 37, at a now-shuttered Los Angeles hotel.
But hours later, her lawyers said it was a self-obsessed display.
The famous American musician did not mention Cassie directly by name in his apology video, which was posted on Instagram, and used it to say that it was difficult for him to talk about the “dark” times, before telling his followers that he went to treatment and rehabilitation and asked God for help after the accident.
“Combs’ latest statement is more about himself than about the many people he has hurt,” Meredith Firetog, a partner at Wigdor LLP, the law firm representing Cassie, told Page Six.
Referring to the wave of other accusations he faces, she said: “When Cassie and several other women came forward, he denied everything and suggested his victims were looking for a payday.
He added: “His having to ‘apologize’ only after his repeated denials were proven wrong shows his pathetic desperation and no one will be swayed by his deceitful words.”
