Police in Murehwa arrested a mentally disabled woman in connection with the murder of her mother.
The mother, Anacencia Ruisay (68), used to stay with her mentally disabled daughter, Isabel Maradza (47) in the village of Magaya, Chief Mangwende in Murehwa. On May 3, Ruisi went to an unnamed destination to pick up her daughter who had lost her way due to her mental condition.
Two days later, in the afternoon, Ruisay was seen at her home doing some laundry by her cousin, Christina Magama (55 years old). Maradza was also at home. The next day, another villager, Norst Chimhanga, passed by Ruisai’s house and noticed that the main door was broken. He became curious and entered the house to check what had happened.
He peeked into Ruisay’s bedroom and saw her lifeless body on the floor. Maradza was sitting next to her mother’s lifeless body.
Chimhanga then informed Magama and also reported the matter to the police, who attended the scene. The police noticed that the deceased’s body, which had bruises all over, was facing upwards
The bruises were mainly concentrated on the right side of her neck, and blood was coming out of her mouth. No weapon was found at the scene.
Mashonaland East Provincial Police spokesman, Inspector Simon Chazovaci, confirmed the incident.
The police questioned Maradza and revealed that she was the one who killed Ruisay. She was arrested immediately.
The body of the deceased was transferred to Marwa Hospital awaiting an autopsy. Investigations were ongoing. New Ziana
