The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has announced the appointment of six more legislators from the Singiso Tsabangu-led Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) to the National Assembly to fill the vacant proportional representation seats.
According to a notice published in the Government Gazette yesterday, the Chairperson of the Central Electoral Commission, Priscilla Chigumba, confirmed the appointments.
“The public is hereby notified, in accordance with Section 39(7)(a) of the Electoral Act [Chapter 2:13]that the persons specified in the table below, nominated by the Citizens’ Coalition for Change Party to fill vacancies in the National Assembly pursuant to Article 120 (1) (b) and the Constitution which occurred after the recall of the office holders were appointed members as of the date of publication of this notice.
The six are Vivian Chitembe (Harare), Nyasha Batitsa (Manicaland), Samantha Moryane (Manicaland), Diana Maricano (Mashonaland East), Tsongirirai Rongweve (Masvingo) and Melviner Gwabeni (Midlands).
Zec also announced the appointment of five CCC candidates to fill vacant positions in the Senate.
These are Tambodzai Kunaka (Harare), Morrisi Zwezwai (Harare), Musa Maningavana (Harare), Spiwe Munimu (Mashonaland West) and Tawanda Pvomo (Mashonaland West). Newsday
