A jealous man who could not deal with the collapse of his relationship with his mistress and killed her in front of her two children has been sentenced to a minimum of 27 years in prison.
Obert Moyo Perseverance Ncube (35) was stabbed in the chest in Ducksgate Grove in Little Hulton, Salford, England, in the early hours of November 10 last year.
Police said Moyo broke into her home after a “stalking campaign” and her two children, aged 10 and 12, tried to fend him off.
The 46-year-old admitted the murder and was given an apparent life sentence at Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester.
Moyo, of Pennington Road in Bolton, denied murder but changed his plea to guilty on the first day of his trial.
The court heard that the pair had been in a relationship, but Moyo pursued Ms Ncube, known as Percy, for several months after she ended the relationship.
Moyo first broke into the house and attacked her in her bedroom but was pulled away from her by her two children.
He then chased her down the street and stabbed her in the chest.
Prosecutor Eloise Marshall KC told the court her children could be heard in the background of the 999 call, with one of them praying for their mother’s life.
Miss Marshall said Moyo fled the scene before being arrested in Bolton later the same day.
In a victim personal statement, Ms Ncube’s son said: “My sister and I were robbed of our mother and our entire lives.
“Every day I feel burning pain, I miss her, I miss being able to hold her. I miss being able to talk to her.
“Mom, I miss you and I will always love you.”
Her daughter told Moyo that he “ruined her whole life,” adding: “You stole my mother from me.
“I really thought you were a father to me but you’re not…I hate you.”
After sentencing Moyo to life imprisonment, Judge Patrick Field KC told him his crime was “deliberate, brutal and vicious”. -BBC/H Metro correspondent.
