BEATRICE ACCIDENT DECLARED NATIONAL DISASTER newsdzeZimbabweNewsdzeZimbabwe


The government declared the Beatrice accident, which killed 16 people, a national disaster.

This morning, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development Felix Mhuna revealed this during an interview with the Herald at the scene of the accident.

“We are saddened by this tragic incident. The government has declared this incident a national disaster. We wish the injured a speedy recovery and also send our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families,” Minister Mhona said.

The fatal accident occurred on Friday at around 4pm when a Harare-bound transport truck collided with a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter on the 52km highway along the Harare-Masvingo Expressway.

As a result, 16 people died.

Police investigations revealed that the deceased were members of the Angels Apostolic Family Church and were traveling to Makumimavi Shrine in Chivu. Announce
