A sex worker has been jailed after she appeared in court accused of helping a rapist rape her friend’s teenage sister.
Lauren Mabonga, 30, was not asked to plead when she appeared before Magistrate Turay Manwere, who is accused of rape.
The victim, 13, was given US$20 from her mother for safekeeping, Tambodzai Masamvi, prosecuting, said last week.
She was supposed to return it later that day.
When the mother returned home, the child failed to return the money and ran away from home for fear of being beaten.
For the next two days, she would come home while everyone else had gone to bed.
On April 19, the child did not return home and slept at Mapunga’s house.
Mapunga returned later in the night with two men and ordered the victim to comply with everything they said.
The two men allegedly ordered her to undress and told her that Mapunga had allowed them to have sex with her.
They all participated in the “Quartet”.
The next morning, the child returned home and her mother took her to the police.
She revealed to the police that she had been raped and was taken for a mental examination.
Mabonga was advised to apply for bail from the High Court as she faces a third offense in the timeline. h metro
