ZANU PF held its final rallies yesterday ahead of by-elections scheduled for tomorrow in the Mount Pleasant and Harare East constituencies.
In the Mount Pleasant constituency, Zanu PF’s Leader George Mashava will compete against independent candidates Mr Nayson Mamus and Mr Brian Tiki.
In Harare East, Zanu Patriotic Front leader Kevin Mutembanyuka will contest against Ms Rubavadzo Sethia Chiesa, who is running as an independent candidate.
This comes after President Mnangagwa announced April 27 as the date for by-elections in Mount Pleasant and Harare East constituencies following the resignations of Ms Fadzai Mahiri and Mr Norman Rusty Markham, respectively.
Yesterday, the party organized a rally at Chikurubi grounds to drum up support ahead of tomorrow’s by-election.
Addressing thousands of ZANU-PF supporters, Mutembanyuka said if he wins the by-election, the constituency will never be the same again.
The constituency has been in opposition hands for many years, without any meaningful development.
“I am very confident and prepared because we have done exactly what people asked for,” Cde Mutimbanyoka said. Announce
