Tragedy struck the town of Nyazura when a local man – Tanitsiwa Mbako – committed suicide by throwing himself into a deep well after a misunderstanding with his employer.
Mbako (40), from Kanduna village, under Chief Makoni was found dead in a well and allegedly committed suicide after clashing with his employer, Titus Muzamhindo.
Acting Manicaland Provincial Police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, confirmed the incident, saying the late Mbako took his frustrations out to his wife, Farisai Simera, before committing suicide.
“At about 6pm on April 21, Mabaku and his wife, Farisai Simera, were sharing a meal in their dining room when he spoke to her about his dissatisfaction with his employer – Titus Muzamhindu,” he said.
According to Faresay, Mbako felt disrespected and unfairly treated by his boss, and expressed his frustration about the situation.
The discussion seemed like a simple conversation between the couple, but little did she know that it marked the beginning of a tragic turn of events that would ultimately lead to her husband’s death.
“On the same night, at about 7 p.m., Farisai went to bed, leaving her husband in the dining room. At about 5 a.m. the next morning, Rubavadzo Ndelev (39 years old) went to the well to fetch water, and upon arriving she saw the well open.
“I noticed some shoes that I knew belonged to Mbako. There was also a box of matches, cigarettes and a torch at the scene. I advised Varsay and they both went to the well. They saw Mbako’s body in the well and rushed to inform the police.”
The police arrived at the scene and recovered the body and discovered that Mabako had side bruises on the face. His back was also swollen.
A note was found under the door that read: “Here are the keys.”
Assistant Inspector Chinyoka said Mbako’s body was taken to Rusape General Hospital for autopsy. Manica Post
