Police in Mashonaland East have arrested a Marondera man for allegedly assaulting his 13-year-old daughter after she left home for several days.
The incident happened recently at Rapture Farm in Marondera.
Tendai Gombera (41) allegedly went to the Rapture Business Center where his daughter was staying with her grandfather Sunday Gombera (68).
When he got there, he confronted his daughter about the issue.
It is said that Gombra was not convinced by the response he received from his daughter and immediately began assaulting her with a wooden stick all over her body.
In a statement, Mashonaland East police spokesperson, Inspector Simon Chazovaci, said that when Gombera assaulted his daughter, he allegedly slammed the juvenile against a wall.
Gombera then forcibly marched the girl, demanding that she show all her friends. He continued to assault her.
When they had walked approximately 300 metres, the juvenile reportedly indicated that she could not walk any further due to loss of energy. But Gombera continued his attacks and accused her of pretending to be dizzy.
Gombera is said to have left his daughter lying on the ground. The next day at around 6:00 a.m., a Shingirai Chipungo who was on his way to the business center discovered the juvenile’s lifeless body in a shallow drainage ditch along the road. Chibungo informed the juvenile’s grandfather who later reported the matter to ZRP Marondera Rural.
“The body of the deceased was transferred to the Marondera Hospital mortuary for forensic procedure. Gombra has been arrested,” said Inspector Chazovacie.
