A 54-year-old man is fighting for his life in a local hospital after he was injured with an ax because he had an affair with a married woman in Mudzi.
Chris Chamutir, from Kasuso village, under the command of Chief Goronga, was caught in bed with married woman Teresa Karidza, 49, on her marital bed.
Teresa’s husband, David Soussons, 58, had received a report from neighbors about his wife’s deceptions.
Chris was struck with an ax and was taken to Cotoa District Hospital.
He was then referred to Parirenyatwa Hospital where he was admitted to the intensive care unit.
Mashonaland East Provincial Police spokesperson, Inspector Simon Chazovaci, confirmed the case and urged people to avoid taking the law into their own hands.
“Police are investigating a case of attempted murder in Mudzi,” Insp Czazovaci said.
“The circumstances indicate that on 8 April, at approximately 2000 hours, the complainant visited his girlfriend to stay with her for the night.
“The friend is married and her husband works as a security guard in Harare.
“At around 0130 hours, the lovers heard a knock on the door and the woman went out to check who was knocking but she did not see anyone. The complainant fled the house in fear, but an unknown defendant chased him and then beat him with an ax on his lower abdomen and right hand.
“We want to discourage members of the public from taking the law into their own hands.
“When they encounter problems, they should simply report it to the police or seek advice from community elders, police or church leaders,” Inspector Czazovaci said. h metro
