President Mnangagwa said sustainable economic development can only be achieved through the use of local currency which will stimulate growth and ensure stability.

This follows the introduction of the ZiG coin backed by gold and other precious metals last week by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ).

Addressing the 374th session of the Politburo at the ZANU-PF headquarters in Harare yesterday, President Mnangagwa, who is also the ruling party’s chief secretary, said Zimbabweans must embrace and defend the new currency, protecting it against the machinations of the country’s critics.

“This meeting is taking place just days after the unprecedented opening of the national coffers and subsequent launch of our new Zimbabwean gold currency, one of the ongoing measures to enhance economic stability and stimulate growth,” the President said.

He called on the Politburo and senior party members to instill confidence among the people in understanding the transformative policies and new currency.

“At the same time, programs and activities must be supported to educate and raise awareness among the public, including those led by the private sector, church and community organizations, towards the adoption of our currency. In our case, sustainable socio-economic development, independence and sovereignty can only be achieved through the use of our local currency.” .

“While the enemy continually attacks our economy, we must work to protect and defend communities against the neo-imperialist lies and machinations promoted by our country’s critics, both from within and outside the country.

Therefore, we must refine our scientific and revolutionary ideas and our strategic understanding towards accelerating the achievement of Vision 2030.”

The President assigned senior leaders in the Revolutionary Party to provide leadership on the economic front and deliver messages to the lowest structures.

“Party membership should be active and visible in economic activities in our efforts to grow GDP at the provincial and district levels. Party meetings from cell/village to district levels should now reflect this trend. In this regard, the relevant economic departments were also directed to change their model and provide the required intellectual support to the Party associations.

“No one but us in the ZANU-PF and the people of Zimbabwe will be able to achieve the key aspects of our country’s political, social and economic development. Our future as a massive mass revolutionary party and the future of our government and our country are affected by our decisions and actions. This heavy commitment should never be taken lightly. Nyika Inovakwa, inotongwa, inonamatigwa nevene vayo/ilizwe lakhiwa, libuswe, ngabanikazi balo. “Likulkiloe,” President Mnangagwa said.

He added that ZANU-PF is the only party that can improve people’s lives and livelihoods.

In a related context, the President said that party members must at all times maintain the discipline, loyalty and focus required not only to defend the country’s independence, freedom and empowerment, but also to improve the quality of life of every Zimbabwean, leaving no person or place behind.

“At this stage of our revolution and of the country’s development, party leaders and structures must be equal to this task.”

He said the party must recalibrate its revolutionary, ideological and moral compass to rise above current and future challenges.

“Party members, especially officials and leaders, have a duty to unhesitatingly uphold the correct party line, at all times, whether in public or private.

“The supremacy of our party constitution and the integral values of unity, patriotism, hard and honest work must continue to be entrenched across the party rules. We cannot be complacent in this regard,” the president said.

Zimbabwe has been subject to illegal and devastating economic sanctions for 24 years, and the president said that there is no room in the ruling party to be preoccupied with trivial matters, internal and external.

“The Second Republic is about production, production, production, prioritizing economic activities over politics. We secured a new mandate from voters during the coordinated 2023 general elections, held less than 12 months ago. I challenge us to reflect, as party leadership, We must continue to focus on accelerating the national development agenda.

Petty bickering, jealousy and misplaced feelings of entitlement are unacceptable, he said.

“We are not a party of positions; “We aim for progress, prosperity, unity, peace and development for all the people of Zimbabwe, regardless of where they live or their social standing,” the President said.

Ahead of independence anniversary celebrations next week in Murambinda, Manicaland Province and the 64th edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) in Bulawayo, at the end of the month, President Mnangagwa said the party leadership must play its part to ensure the two events are resounding. success.

This year’s edition of ZITF will be officially opened by Kenyan President Dr. William Ruto, to strengthen the long-standing fraternal relations between Zimbabwe and Kenya.

In light of climate change-induced drought, the president said there is a need to work harder to consolidate the country’s achievements and confront obstacles head-on and with confidence.

“The hearts and minds of our people will be won when we are strong and united in support of our Zanu PF policies, programs and projects. Let us always give communities hope by leading from the front. There is no room for complacency,” he said.

He challenged the management of the Zanu PF Commission, party associations, including affiliated organisations, to do more in terms of grassroots mobilization and educating the people on the current situation within the party and the nation as a whole.

“Let us continue to welcome more new members to Zanu PF from across the socio-economic and political divides and educate them on what we stand for, as a party, and the ongoing people-centred policies and projects,” he said. Announce
