Former Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc) commissioner Farai Mashunganyika Chinyane and her husband went on a rampage and destroyed a community gate after they were denied entry to a property they allegedly acquired illegally.
Mashonganyika recently lost the title deed to a property she claimed she bought in a fraudulent deal where she paid US$4,000 for 8,000 square meters of land.
The former Zacc commissioner and her husband Tendayi Chinyane appeared before Magistrate Dennis Mangosi on charges of willful damage to property.
The duo allegedly damaged a community boom gate in Borrowdale, Carrick Craig.
The allegations state that on April 5, Cornelius Tsikwa, a senior security officer, was on guard duty at the entrance to a gated community in Carrick Craig when the couple arrived.
Tsikwa informed them that they were not allowed to enter the property because they owed a payment of US$600 for security and other services.
This did not go down well with the couple.
He continued to twist the electronic boom gate, breaking it in the process.
The duo’s detention period was extended until April 16.
Mashunganyika recently filed a lawsuit against the government after the Ministry of Local Government canceled the title deed to a property she purchased for US$4,000 instead of US$20,000.
