Two women from the Madzbaba Ismail Apostolic sect facing allegations of human trafficking have been released on US$50 bail by Harare magistrate Mr Donald Nderwe. Danai Tiger (56) and Veronica Chitanda, both members of the Yohan Masoi Ishishanu sect led by Ismail Chukurungirwa, face human trafficking charges.
It is the state’s case that on March 13, police arrested Chukurungirwa and his seven accomplices for contravention of the Burial and Cremation Act and the Children’s Act at Plot 6 Lily Farm, Nyabira.
It is also alleged that on March 28, police received information that the duo was harboring suspected members of the Madzbaba Ismail Chukurungirwa cult at house number 40 Ngamira Street, Mofakos Harare.
On March 29 at 3am, a raid was carried out at Tigir’s residence where Ex Zugara (20), Precious Tichona (20), Mimuri Matanga (19), Rolindo Chimuti (24), Vimbai Movani (21), Melody Chirinda (21) were arrested. (20), and the police rescued Nomusa Tishona (18 years old) and two minors.
