A church supervisor, accused of soliciting sex from a married woman, has taken his church to court to terminate his contract as pastor and supervisor.
Superintendent Tamuka Zvavahira, head of all AFM pastors in Bulawayo West, has seen his world crumble after a series of allegedly leaked WhatsApp messages with a married woman.
The Council of Elders then met to discuss the issue and subsequently referred it to the National Headquarters in Harare. Faith Center Association wrote a letter of complaint to Superintendent Zvavahera regarding the leaked WhatsApp messages.
“Pastor Zvavahera made some advances towards the married female devotee which is against the ethics of the church. In doing so he has insulted the name of the church. According to the evidence collected, he has booked a hotel in the city.”
Subsequently, Superintendent Zvavahera’s contract as Magwegwe Association Pastor and Superintendent was terminated. Unsatisfied with this decision, Zvavahira has engaged lawyers Task Vicki and Mary Nika of Macharaja Law Chambers, who are now fighting for his reinstatement.
“The defendants, AFM, Taurai Nyoni, Sherphered Sebata, Mlindeli Ndlovu, Trust Tsengerayi, Nelson Nyahora, Blessing Tatenda Changunda, erred and committed wrongdoing by terminating the applicant’s pastoral duties at Magwegwe Fellowship and terminating the applicant’s position as Bulawayo West District Superintendent without the authority and authority to do so Under the AFM Constitution of Zimbabwe. The Respondents erred and committed a grave breach by terminating the Applicant’s contract without properly charging him with any offense in relation to the AFM Constitution and never providing reasons for terminating his contract. “They also never afforded him an opportunity to defend himself,” it said. The lawsuit filed by his lawyers said in part.
