PUNTER TAKES FIGHT TO LOTTERIES BOARD newsdzeZimbabweNewsdzeZimbabwe

Betting company Bezbets, which was convicted and fined last month for defrauding a gambler out of $5,200 he won after playing a game, has been referred to the Lottery and Gaming Board (LGB) by a gambler still awaiting his winnings.

Bezbets was on 15 March fined US$500 by Harare magistrate, Mr Simon Kandiro, for defrauding Mr Prosper Dembedza, who has now written to the board as he continues to fight for his winnings.

“My main issue now is to request your intervention as the regulator of all betting and gaming establishments in the country. I would like you to help me get my money as I have won legally as proven by the courts of justice in the country. I have 100 percent confidence in this council as it is the regulator and final destination In restoring sanity in my case. I beg you to make sure that I will get what I have won legally.

“Your positive decision will not only benefit me, it will be a landmark ruling that will go a long way in helping other disadvantaged gamblers across the country. We as punters need to feel your presence, we need to see you defending our rights against these dishonest betting institutions,” he wrote.

LGB Chief Executive Officer Dr Mishke Chingoza was unable to comment on the issue saying he first needed to follow stipulated procedures before acting.

“Unfortunately, there is no response for you yet, but we are working on it. Once the position is approved, you will be the first to know,” he announces.
