EX ZACC COMMISSIONER DRAGGED TO COURT newsdzeZimbabweNewsdzeZimbabwe

Former Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZAC) commissioner Farai Chinyani and her husband Tendayi Chinyani appeared in court yesterday to face charges of willful damage to property.

The pair allegedly damaged a boom gate in Borrowdale after trying to force entry into a residential area.

Harare Magistrate Mr Dennis Mangosi ordered Farai (49) and Tendai (60), both Borrowdale residents, to be held out of custody until April 16 for the start of a potential trial.

The complainant is Carrick Craig, Security Representative, represented by Cornelius Tsikiwa, Chief Security Officer.

Prosecutor Ms Kudzai Manyadza alleged that on April 5, Tsikiwa was on guard duty in a gated residential community in Carrick Craig, when the couple He arrived and demanded to enter the building.

Tsikiwa informed them that they were not allowed to enter according to the community constitution because they had an outstanding balance of US$600 for security and other services.

This did not sit well with them and they continued to forcefully twist the electronic boom gate, breaking it in the process.

A police report was filed, leading to the couple’s arrest.

The court heard that the value of the damaged property was US$300. Announce
