The state on Tuesday withdrew the charge of incitement to public violence against a political activist C. Konaka due to lack of evidence.
Prosecutor Thomas Chanakira told Harare magistrate Apollonia Marutia that the matter was withdrawn before the confession because the state was unable to support his case.
Konaka was facing charges of incitement to cause public violence, breach of the peace or intolerance and an alternative charge of organizing an unlawful public assembly.
The state alleged that sometime between March 1 and July 30, 2020, Kunaka posted a video on social media platforms inciting the public to participate in anti-government protests scheduled for July 31, 2020.
