(New Ziana) – An inmate already serving time at Mutare Farm Prison for an unspecified offence, has been sentenced to an additional 16 years for committing two sexual offenses while in prison.
Sometime in November last year, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said in a statement that the accused was sharing the same cell with other prisoners at Mutare Farm Prison.
On the night in question, one of the inmates woke up to find the defendant fondling his buttocks.
The complainant was shocked to discover that the man had lowered his pants and underwear.
The accused was arrested after a similar incident on January 3 this year when he raped another prisoner without his consent.
For the charge of sodomy with the inmate, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison, and for the other crime, he was sentenced to a year in prison, making it 16 years.
