A Zhombe sangoma known as Sekuru Mukanya has detained an artisanal gold miner from Chivhu in police custody after asking him to put his mother or daughter to sleep to achieve success.
Tallent Mudzinge (35) from Featherstone was arrested on charges of raping his eight-year-old daughter (name withheld), Mashonaland East Police spokesperson Simon Chazovaci told The Mirror.
“We urge the public to quickly report rape cases so that victims can get help immediately. Anyone can be a potential child abuser,” Czazovacie said.
Mudzinge allegedly told the arresting officers that he had taken Sikoro Mukanya’s advice and raped his daughter. He allegedly said that he was asked to either sleep with his mother or his daughter and he chose the latter.
The accident happened last Friday around 2am.
Circumstances indicate that Mudzinge entered the kitchen where the girl was sleeping with her brother (age 11).
He sent her to go and collect some clothes in his bedroom and followed her into the room.
Mudzinge then raped her and ordered her to return to the kitchen and not reveal the matter to anyone.
The minor narrated her ordeal to her grandmother in the morning, and she in turn informed one of her children, who then accompanied her to file a police report at Featherstone Police Station.
Mudzinge was arrested and told the police in detail that he consulted a Zhombe sangoma known as Sekuru Mukanya who asked him to have sex with his mother or daughter to succeed as an artisanal miner. The minor was transferred to Chefu District Hospital for examination. Masvingo mirror
