ZBC CEO, Ms Adelaide July, has resigned.
Ms Chikongoro, who has been suspended since Wednesday 28 February pending disciplinary action, resigned on Friday 1 March 2024.
In a statement, the ZBC Board of Directors confirmed Ms Chikunguru’s resignation, adding that the Chief Financial Officer, Mr Assael Machakata, will continue as acting CEO pending the appointment of a senior CEO.
Meanwhile, the national broadcaster has not renewed Robson Mahando’s contract.
The ZBC Board of Directors confirmed in a statement that Mando, who was Director of Radio Services, received adequate advance notice that his contract, which expired on February 29, 2024, would not be renewed.
Mando has since ceased to be an employee of the company in accordance with the law and without prejudice to the ongoing investigation by the Zimbabwe Gender Equality Commission.
He has been suspended since September 2023.
