A man from Nkayi in Matabeleland North Province suffered swollen testicles after his love rival “hit” them with a hammer after allegedly catching him having sex with his girlfriend.
This was heard when Mthabisi Dlamini appeared before Bulawayo Regional Magistrate Dambudzo Malonga, where she faced a charge of attempted murder.
Dlamini pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded in custody until 6 March.
In his defence, Dlamini stated that he loved the woman and felt betrayed by her actions. He claimed that preparations for their marriage are already underway.
The court heard that on a date unknown to the prosecutor, but sometime in December last year, Dlamini from Samasi village in Nkayi visited his mistress during the night and found her having sex with Kwenzakwaywenkosi Chuma.
Dlamini told the court that when he arrived at his lover’s house, he stood at the door and became angry when he heard his lover moaning in pleasure in her room. Alarmed by the sounds, he knocked on the door.
Choma allegedly sensed danger and panicked, running out of the bedroom wearing only his shorts.
The court heard that Dlamini chased him and soon caught up with him.
Dlamini allegedly attacked Tshuma with a hammer on the family jewellery.
He hit him on the head with a handle, causing further injuries and leaving him unconscious on the ground.
The incident was reported to the police, leading to Dlamini’s arrest. B metro
