The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has arrested Murehwa magistrate, Terrence Machare, on suspicion of accepting bribes from litigants involved in cases he was presiding over.
Mashairi’s arrest comes as part of a wider crackdown, with ZACC also detaining former judge Shane Kubonera and Alan Namu Bhasvi.
The duo is facing charges of fraud and impersonation, with Bhasvi allegedly posing as His Excellency’s chief protocol officer and colluding with Cubonera to defraud an individual of US$10,000.
The elaborate scheme concocted by Bhasvi and Kuponera reportedly promised their victim access to farm allotments, agricultural equipment, and even alleged access to the head of state.
According to ZACC officials, Takudzwa Marlon Muza, an ICT technician at the Judicial Service Commission, is also among those arrested.
Moza is accused of soliciting and accepting a bribe worth US$350 with the promise of influencing a ruling in his favor in a case pending before the Supreme Court. Site
