SANGOMA’S LAVISH $30K WEDDING newsdzeZimbabweNewsdzeZimbabwe

SEKURU Tasvu’s wedding with his Talent sweetheart Qeliwe Mpofu last weekend was a rarity in more ways than one.

Choosing a traditional healer to perform a white wedding was not only amazing, but he also spent over $30,000 while attending the ceremony.

The wedding took place at the gorgeous Mumvuri we Dombo venue in Hatfield, Harare.

The people watched in amazement as the convoy of luxury cars made its way to the place.

In order to make the more than 500 guests at the event more comfortable, Sikoro Tasfo enlisted the help of prominent musicians Jah Prayza, Andy Muridzo and Sasha Amadhovi to sing for them.

Gogo Gwenyambira’s crew brought a traditional flavor to the proceedings, while DJ Template did a professional job, keeping the invited guests on their feet.

Notable guests included Sekuru Kanengo, another prominent traditional healer, and actors Freddy “Kapfupi” Manjalima and Taurai “Gringo Jnr” Boora.

The couple has been living together as husband and wife since 2015 and have three children.

With the red and white colours, the wedding was well organized and the bride and groom looked stunning.

Leading makeup artist, Memory Chidori, performed her artwork on the bride, with lead hairstylist, Bolinati Mbongo, styling the bride’s hair.

The traditional healer said the wedding dress cost him $1,500, with another $300 going towards buying the cake.

He also reportedly splashed out $2,500 on a diamond and gold bridal ring.

According to Sekuru Tasvu, the wedding alone took in up to US$10,000.

As part of the lobola, the traditional healer said he gave his in-laws US$15,000 and 20 head of cattle. During the celebration, three animals and seven pigs were slaughtered.

Guests enjoyed fine dining – a three-course meal – prepared by some of the country’s top chefs.

In total, Sikoro Tasfo said he gave away more than US$30,000 to cover pre- and post-wedding costs. After the wedding, the couple returned to a local hotel, where they spent their honeymoon.

The bride, who was extremely happy, said that the wedding fulfilled her long-awaited dream.

“This wedding means a lot to me. Apart from strengthening our bond, it also fulfilled a long-cherished dream.

Sekuru Tasvu believes the wedding will send a message to those who look down on traditional healers.

“Some people still view traditional healers as backward and uneducated. This wedding has proven that we, like everyone else, also want the best things in life.

“Our wives need to be sure that the union exists until death. This wedding is an assurance to my wife that we will be together forever.

The traditional healer is 40 years old, charismatic, fashion-conscious, and drives luxury cars. Sunday mail
