A Chitungwiza woman has been charged with the murder of her married boyfriend, who died in her home on Christmas Day last year.
Sharon Chidamba (40) appeared before the Chitungwiza Magistrate’s Court where she was granted bail of US$100.
The state said Chidamba was involved in a dispute with the late Edward Chakanitsa after drinking beer.
Chidamba is believed to have attacked Chakanitsa with an unknown object fracturing his skull leading to his death.
Before her arrest on January 6, Chidamba was accused of making conflicting statements to Chakanitsa’s relatives, who suspected foul play.
In one of her alleged accounts, Chidamba claimed that Chakanitsa ingested rat poison before taking him to a local hospital where he later died.
However, the family filed a police report after autopsy results showed that Chakanitsa died as a result of an attack with a blunt object.
Chidamba is expected to return to court soon while police investigations into the murder continue. h metro
