DAGGERS are out for former Citizens Alliance for Change leader Nelson Chamisa’s trusted envoys, Gift Sisiba and Amos Chibaya, who have emerged as the face of his yet-to-be-launched party.
Chamisa resigned from the leadership of the CCC last month, arguing that ZANU-PF had infiltrated the party through its agents such as self-imposed interim secretary-general Singiso Chabangu.
Chamisa left his supporters guessing about his next move.
However, former legislators Chibaya and Sizipa made a quick tour of the provinces to update the party’s grassroots supporters on Chamisa’s impending political move which will be Blue.
However, the move has angered and called out several CCC lawmakers who feel they have not been consulted by Chamisa on the way forward.
Newsday has reliably learned that senior opposition figures are also unhappy about the duo holding regional meetings to push for a new movement without their knowledge.
Former Seke Party legislator Willard Madzimbamoto, who was summoned by Chabangu, took to X to express his frustration.
“No real movement starts in this mysterious way with just two people,” he said.
“Such behavior casts negative stigma on Nelson Chamisa as a dictator in things he does not know.”
Losing CCC Wedza South candidate Valentin Zinhumwe said there was a need to be honest when creating a new movement.
“The first part in building the new movement is to be honest with each other and accommodate diverse viewpoints. Zimbabweans want change. We cannot do the same things and expect different results.”
Chibaya, the former interim organizing secretary of the CCC, told NewsDay that he was simply carrying out his mission as a regulator.
“There is something called the organizing committee. I chair it and it has several departments, namely elections, communications, youth and women,” Shibaya said.
“Wherever I go, I go with the committee that everyone knows. I am the organizer and head of the organizing office.
Chamisa refused to talk about the matter but assured his supporters that he would soon announce the way forward.
“The answer is coming and it is huge. We will all be happy. It is a national answer, a generational answer; it will respond to everyone including those in ZANU-PF,” Chamisa said on Monday.
“Everything else is just noise. Zimbabweans should be thrilled to know the answer is coming. #Godisinit.”
However, political commentators yesterday said Chamisa should be open and offer guidance to his supporters who are eagerly awaiting his next move.
Political analyst Fanuel Kaseke said Chamisa was using Machiavellian politics to gauge his support.
“In all honesty, whatever they are creating is in the same manner as the CCC and this delay gives it ample time to reach out to its loyalists within the political fraternity,” he said.
“He does not want those from whom he is running to follow him; He’s waiting for them to form their own team.
Another political analyst, Maxwell Songwemi, said Chamisa is considering his options before making a final announcement.
“Whatever his next move as Zimbabwe’s most popular politician, the biggest lessons he must take into account is the need to run an institution with internal democracy, policies, structures, ideology and constitution,” he said.
Political analyst Kudakwashe Munimu said Chamisa may have already made an announcement within his inner circle.
It appears he has already announced it to a select few of his inner circle and not yet to the masses. He said the delay was likely aimed at assessing the behavior and reaction of his colleagues. Newsday
