A curvy woman who was having an affair with a married man was left unable to sit properly after the man’s wife went after her most prized possession and stabbed her twice in the buttocks and once in the thighs.
As Sanelisiwe Ncube (33) from Domboshava village in Matobo, Matabeleland South Province was drowning in the sage water at Chavu Mall on December 3 last year, Seduduzile Ndlovu (37) confronted her and caused a public scene.
She insulted her and accused her of having an affair with her husband.
Things got out of control, the court heard.
Ncube, who was said to be under pressure, tried to pause the problem and rushed out of the bar and into the toilet to answer nature’s call.
Instead of pausing play, Ndlovu quickly advanced and caught up with Ncube.
She took out a knife and plunged it into Ncube’s ass twice in quick succession and into her thigh once, for good measure.
Ncube fell to the ground, bleeding heavily, and let out a deafening scream for help.
Ndlovu disappeared from the scene while drinkers took Ncube to hospital for medical attention.
Ndlovu was later arrested. She appeared before Kizi magistrate Busani Sibanda to face assault charges.
She was convicted based on her guilty plea.
The judge sentenced her to 18 months in prison.
He was suspended for eight months on the condition that Ndlovu does not commit a similar offense within a period of five years, while the remaining 10 months were suspended on the condition that she perform 350 hours of community service at Whitewater Primary School.
In its sentencing, the court noted that Ndlovu had used a dangerous weapon and that the cruel attack was deliberate. The court also indicated that the victim suffered several stab wounds.
To alleviate the situation, Ndlovu said she has four minor children between the ages of two and 16, and survives by fetching water for community members who earn US$5 a week.
In a victim impact statement, Ncube said: “I sustained severe injuries to my buttocks to the point of being unable to sit and sleep properly.
