Three brothers suspected of being thieves appeared in court yesterday along with a colleague on charges of stealing money and valuables from a family worth US$1,000.

Bryn Madzima (27), Lameke Madzima (28), Tatenda Madzima (30) and Roman Badza (28) appeared before Harare Regional Magistrate, Mr Donald Nderwe, charged with armed robbery.

They were remanded in custody until February 20 and advised to seek bail from the Supreme Court.

The Prosecutor, Mr. Anisu Chiringi, alleged that at about 0230 hours on 13 January, the accused hatched a plan to rob the complainants.

They therefore cooperated and went to the complainant’s house, armed with a pistol, a hammer, a nail cutter, iron bars and a catapult.

Upon their arrival, they smashed the window with an unknown tool to enter the house.

They confronted and manhandled the complainant Walter Chorosei and his wife Yukai Moroba who were sleeping in the bedroom and demanded cash and other valuables.

The defendants ransacked the home and stole $500 cash, a Dell laptop, a Huawei cell phone, a Samsung A13, an iPad and a sling bag.

The accused fled the scene, while the complainants left the stolen items at home.

The complainants reported the matter to the police, which led to their arrest. Announce
