RADIO PRESENTER REMANDED IN CUSTODY newsdzeZimbabweNewsdzeZimbabwe

The Platinum FM radio presenter who disguised herself as a Central Intelligence Organization (CIO) agent before the radio station director before her arrest last week was yesterday placed in custody.

This is after she was also summoned before the Chinhoyi Magistrate’s Court on Saturday, where she was remanded in custody until yesterday.

Accused Thandeka Hilda Chitombo (30), whose radio alias is Ms Ndika-T, was present in court yesterday for a bail hearing, but her lawyer Tinashe Dzfur applied for an adjournment, which the state agreed to.

She faces charges of impersonation as defined in Section 179 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.

According to the State, the complainant in this case is Mr. Davies Mugadza, Director of Zimpapers Mashonaland West’s Platinum FM radio station.

It is the State’s case that the accused, who first contacted the radio station director to volunteer as a presenter in October 2023, later provided credentials claiming she was a member of the IT director.

She allegedly informed Mugadza that she had been sent to the radio station on a “chief information officer intelligence mission.”

Mr Mugadza then contacted the offices of Chinhoyi’s IT director to confirm her credentials and asked for time to investigate.

On Thursday, the team contacted Mr Mgadza, who disavowed the accused. The complainant then filed a police report, which led to the accused being arrested on Friday at the radio station studios in Chinhoyi.

A search of her home in the densely populated suburb of Ruvimbo led to the discovery of a fake diplomatic identity card and two fake Zanu PF identity cards claiming to be hers. He was a member of the Mashonaland Western and Central Provinces Central Committee. Announce
