Deputy Tourism Minister Tongai Mafidi Mnangagwa was assaulted by a security personnel attached to the ZANU-PF headquarters.
Munyaradzi Mwedzwindera, who is accused of assaulting Mnangagwa and Wellington Fengsay during a heated exchange over a parking space, yesterday appeared before Harare magistrate Apollonia Marutia and pleaded guilty to the crime.
He is scheduled to return to court on Monday for sentencing.
Mwedzwindira, who is also charged with possession of banned drugs, told the court that he works as a security operative at the ZANU-PF headquarters in Harare.
According to court papers, on January 30 at approximately 10 p.m., at No. 6 Trud Mansions, corner of 6th Street and Five Avenue in the capital, Vengsay Mnangagwa and Handson escorted Jabba from his apartment to his car parked outside after attending a party held at his apartment.
It is alleged that on the way to the parking lot, the complainants came across the accused who was speaking loudly while complaining that Mnangagwa and his team had parked his cars.
The accused went towards Mnangagwa, who grabbed him by the collar before turning and heading towards Fengsay.
Mwedzwindira grabbed Fengisai by the beard with both hands and asked him why he had not shaved his beard.
The accused went on to say that if the complainants made fun of him, he would shoot them.
But Mwedzwindira did not produce any firearms.
The complainants managed to push the accused away and the accused tried to assault Jaba, who overpowered him.
The accused went to one of his cars parked outside, a Nissan Caravan, and sped off.
The complainant did not suffer any injuries as a result of the assault.
The accused was arrested by a team from the Criminal Investigation Department led by Detective Brian Maigeta.
