Solomon Chimbeto says he was blown away by the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE300d, which cost US$140,000, which he received from businessman and philanthropist Wicknell Chivayo.
He became the latest high-profile musician to receive a luxury car from Chivayo, in the past two weeks, after Jah Prayza bagged himself a Mercedes Benz worth US$180,000.
So, in just a matter of weeks, Chivayo spent US$320,000 on two cars he bought for two local musicians.
“To be honest, I never expected to receive this award from Chivayo, who has done so much charitable work in a short period of time,” Solo told H-Metro.
“It is a great honor to be remembered and given such a gift among all our musicians in the country.
“I was surprised when I was called to come pick up this car.
“Of course, we talk here and there but I never expected that since I became a professional musician.”
He added: “When you get such a gift that is worth a fortune, it means a lot to us as players in the creative sector.
“I will continue to serve all my fans with distinction. I also want to leave a legacy like my late father did.
Chivayo shared a post appreciating the Chimbetu family for their contribution to Zimbabwean music.

“Your tremendous contribution and continued support to ZANU PF rallies cannot go unnoticed
“Obviously I’m biased not only because I’m a huge fan of Dendera’s music but your father Simon, Chopper Chimpito, was a very dear friend of mine and to me the best singer ever.
“So today I say to you Mwanango Sulu, please go and enjoy your new 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE300d.
“If you continue to support ZANU PF, the revolutionary party, your future will remain bright. “Just some small pocket change spent on you wholeheartedly.”
Sulu is not the only prominent figure to benefit from Chivayo’s generosity.
Last week, Jah Prayzah took delivery of a 2023 Mercedes-Benz 4Matic S500 at Exquisite Car Dealership.
Last year, Chivayo presented the director of ceremonies and Ndarama Secondary School teacher, David Masumere, with a Toyota GD6 and a house.
He also donated a Toyota GD6 car and a house to President Hwenje for his hit song Mai Welly.
In October last year, he also brought smiles to the ZIYA Cultural Arts crew – Frazebe, the Chairman, and Mboya May John – by giving them US$10,000 each for their skits.
Joining the list of beneficiaries is musician Patroy who also received a car from Chivayo. h metro
