MDC leader Douglas Mwonzora immediately sparked controversy by claiming ownership of the offices, protesting what he called the seizure of offices by the Chamisa group.
“Yesterday (Tuesday), we woke up and realized that some criminals broke into our offices in Bulawayo and painted them blue,” Mwonzora said in a recorded audio recording.

CCC Bulawayo spokesperson Swithern Chirodza said: “We don’t know what Mwonzora was talking about. We don’t know what Mwonzora is huffing and puffing about. Blue has always been our colour. We have blue and yellow and I can assure you we are not finished yet.”
Singiso Chabangu, the self-proclaimed secretary-general of the ACC, threatened legal action.
“We will take legal action soon. We are preparing court papers to stop this criminal activity.”
