A suspected drug dealer is on the run after he assaulted Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Tongai Mnangagwa following a misunderstanding over a parking spot on Tuesday night.
According to a police report seen by the Herald, Deputy Minister Mnangagwa, his companions and aides stopped their convoy outside a Trud Mansions apartment building at the corner of Sixth Street and Fife Street in the Avenues area of Harare.
The Deputy Minister and his associates attended a party at the apartment building and when he went to his car afterwards, he was confronted by the suspect, Anthony Mwedzwindera, complaining that his cars were blocked in the parking lot during the party.
The accused went towards the deputy minister and assaulted him with open hands, prompting his assistants to intervene.
Mwedzwindira allegedly assaulted an aide once with his open hands to his face.
After realizing that he was dealing with a deputy minister, the accused fled the scene, leaving behind four vehicles, a BMW, a Volkswagen, and two Mercedes-Benz cars. A report was made at ZRP Milton Park. Upon searching the car, a quantity of drugs and prohibited substances were found in some of them.
