DEP DIRECTOR ARRESTED OVER US$1 003 417 COMPENSATION CLAIM newsdzeZimbabweNewsdzeZimbabwe

Deputy Director of Road Services Division at the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development, Ernest Shinji, has been arrested for fraudulently claiming US$1,003,417 in compensation for a property affected by the construction of the new interchange at Mbudzi roundabout, along Simon. Mazurudzi Road, Harare.

Shinji has been arrested by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) and is expected to appear in court soon.

“These allegations arose from a fraudulent claim for US$1,003,417 in compensation for a property affected by the construction of the multi-level interchange at the Mbudzi roundabout, which is located at the intersection of Simon Mazurudzi, Chitungwiza and High Glen roads.” ZACC said in a statement.

“The accused, working in collaboration with Levi Idana (who is still at large) and some attorneys, manufactured a fraudulent sales agreement claiming that Levi Idana was the owner of Subdivision A of Subdivision B in Delft in Hubli, which was in the name of John Maloney.

“They used the fraudulent sales agreement to claim compensation, misrepresenting that Edana had purchased the property from John Maloney.”

ZACC said Shinji went to facilitate the processing of compensation and worked with other ministry officials.

“As a result of their fraudulent claim, Idana was paid $200,000,” ZACC added. Announce
