A zombie community in the Kwekwe district of the Midlands province is living in fear after the horrific murder of Fanuel Mwale (57), a teacher at Rio Tinto Secondary School, last week.
Mwale was found brutally murdered in what appeared to be a ritual killing. This heinous act, unprecedented in a zombie, has the community demanding justice and answers.
Mwale’s mutilated and naked body was discovered in the Jewel Business Centre. His face had been skinned, his eyes and ears removed, a sight that sent shivers down the spines of those who saw his body.
These disturbing details led the community to suspect that this was not an ordinary crime, but rather a ritual murder.
Police have since launched a manhunt for the suspected killers, and have also appealed for information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.
For the first time, the family of the deceased opened up, saying that Mwale would be buried on Friday.
“At the moment, we are waiting for the body to return from the autopsy in Bulawayo on Wednesday (today) before being buried on Friday,” he added. “This is what has happened to us as a family, and there is nothing we can do about it,” said Mr Shane Shoko, the family’s spokesman.
“We are not performing any rituals. We are burying our dear brother, and all we wish is for our beloved to rest in peace. As for the rest, we leave it in God’s hands.”
The disturbing details about this murder not only created a wave of fear but also exposed the community to the harsh reality of ritual killings.
As Zombie deals with this shocking incident, the hope is that justice will prevail, and the perpetrators will be brought to justice.
President of the Zombe Residents Association, Mr Bikari Ndebele, said this was the first time they had witnessed such a brutal murder.
“This murder is the first of its kind and has left everyone in a state of shock and shock. At the end of last year, we recorded three murders, but this scale of barbarism is frightening,” he added.
Mr Ndebele said the community is making contributions which will be directed towards the burial of the deceased.
Mwale played a crucial role in imparting knowledge to most members of this community and was an integral part of this community. “We as a community are contributing funds for his burial as a way to show solidarity with his loved ones,” he said.
Mr Ndebele said they were also organizing a peaceful march against crime. “We are in the process of submitting a request to the police to organize a peaceful solidarity march from Jewel Business Center to Zhombe Mission where Mwale will be buried. He added that the march aims to raise awareness against crime.
President Gwesela said they were considering holding a cleansing ceremony.
“I am in the process of bringing churches together so that we can hold a vigil and pray for the area and cleanse it of such evil acts. We will also bring together traditionalists for the same purpose so that we cleanse the area.”
The deceased was a famous teacher in the area. He taught history and English at Rujeko Somalala Secondary School before moving to Rio Tinto Secondary School. Announce
