RECALLED MP’S TRIAL IN FALSE START newsdzeZimbabweNewsdzeZimbabwe

The trial of former CCC MP for Mapoko-Tavara constituency, Munyaradzi Phibion Kufhakutezwe, who faces charges of damage to property and assault, failed today as a witness was unavailable.

Kofhakutezi allegedly damaged a vehicle in Mabvuku and assaulted a ZANU-PF member at a funeral.

The presiding judge, Ms. Ethel Chichira, adjourned the case to March 6.

Kuvahakutizwe’s lawyer, Mr. Garikai Mheshi, informed the State that if witnesses were not called by the next date, the case should be removed from remand.

In the State of the State, on 21 November, Mr Patrick Chitimba allowed Pastors in Action 4ED National Administration Officer Mr Douglas Matadi to use his Toyota Hiace to campaign for the December by-election for Zanu PF National Assembly candidate for Mabvuku-Tafara Constituency, Cde. Bidzai Sakubuanya.

In the end, the Mabvuku-Tafara constituency did not hold a by-election after the High Court blocked Kaufhakotizwe.

But on November 21 at around 1pm, while Mr Chitimba and his colleagues were parked at Kamunho Shopping Center in Mabvuku, he was approached by Kuphhakutizwe and his accomplices, who are still at large, while driving a yellow and black Toyota Baby Quantum.

They then intercepted Mr. Chitimba’s car and four unidentified men got out of Kuvhakutezwe’s car, forced open the doors of Mr. Chitimba’s car and demanded to see Morgan Muvorutsa.

Kufahakutizwe, who was allegedly sitting in the back of the Toyota Hiace, ordered his accomplices to destroy Mr Chitimba’s car.

“ER chaplains should only know about the gospel, smash that car,” Kuvhakutezo allegedly said.

Kufahakutizwi’s accomplices then hit the rear passenger window of the car using wooden sticks, causing it to collapse and they drove away.

The total value of the damage to the vehicle is $370. Announce
